Dear Crossovering Writer!

Some of this is taken directly from previous letters because my likes/wants really don't change all that much! Apologies for any repetition.

Aside from my DNWs (which aren't exactly extensive), go ahead and pick and choose through anything/everything below! I'm pretty easy to please so if you want to read the DNWs, skip the rest and write the fic of your heart in whatever weird amalgam of fandoms we matched on, that's totally fine by me. Prompts below are for mixes of two fandoms, but I'm also totally happy with 3+ fandoms if you have an idea for that! I like the majority of the main characters in all of these but if you want to go for minor characters, totally go for it.

Note: I'm completely happy with any rating ranging from the mildest G right up to the most explicit of explicit - absolutely don't feel like I'm saying you have to write me smut or I'll cry (I won't!), or even shippy fic of any kind, but I've included my shippy likes and ships I ship just in case that's what you fancy. I've included links to previous letters if I've requested a ship before; if I've not and you want any info about what I like for x ship, if I'd like y ship, or indeed anything else, feel free to ask a mod to ask me (their email is crossoveringmods@gmail.com).

Also, length of prompts below doesn't indicate that I want one request more than another - I just have more words for some and more incoherent squee for others! ;)

Dislikes:

100% DNWs:
  • children/pregnancy (not even vague mentions of pregnancy at all, please, including mpreg and oviposition, and no children as main characters unless otherwise specified)
  • D/s lifestyle (casual D/s without minute negotiation, or totally unnegotiated dubcon iffiness, are both A-OK!)
  • humiliation (as a kink or otherwise)
  • scat/watersports
  • A/B/O, knotting
  • ageplay/infantilisation
  • any mention of spiders/tarantulas - other creepy-crawlies are fine

Things I'm not fond of:
  • character death, if followed only by someone else's unending woeful angst (death in general is fine)
  • threesomes/moresomes/poly, unless requested
  • pure fluff/curtainfic - happy is wonderful, holding hands while skipping through meadows not so much!

Likes:

Basically, as long as it's not in my DNWs, absolutely go for it - I mean that 100%. Zombie apocalypse? Really kinky porn? Gore? Random crack? Badfic on purpose? Wacky AUs? All fine! But, if you want ideas about what I like:

General likes:
  • friends having fun together
  • friends knowing each other really well
  • time loops and reincarnation
  • snarky, sarcastic or tongue-in-cheek humour
  • banter
  • characters getting older; ageing
  • futurefic/post-canon
  • competence, whether physical or intellectual (or both)
  • action scenes; battles; fights (fistfights and with weapons)
  • historical, fantasy or sci-fi settings, where appropriate
  • seemingly insignificant details that turn out to be super-important/significant
  • worldbuilding and character background
  • ridiculous crossovers (or indeed sensible ones!)

For shipfic (in addition to the above):
  • friends to lovers; enemies to lovers; enemies to friends to lovers
  • characters who know each other really well (or get to know each other really well) and show it without meaning to or really trying to
  • people not saying 'I love you' but clearly meaning/demonstrating it anyway
  • tough characters making themselves realistically vulnerable
  • differences and contrasts in age/height/etc. (especially when the smaller/younger one isn't actually small/young, only in comparison to the other character - think 30+ year old and 50+ year old (or older, or bigger age gap), 6' character with 6'5 character (or taller, or bigger size gap))
  • one character being physically stronger than the other (especially if the weaker one isn't weak, only weaker in comparison)
  • happy (or at least hopeful) endings
  • getting together
  • first time (first time together, or getting back together after years apart)
  • competence kink
  • loyalty kink; trust kink
  • jealousy/possessiveness/codependency/protectiveness (without woobiefying either character)
  • admiration (physical and/or intellectual)
  • me-and-you-against-the-world
  • identity porn (roleplaying; undercover; secret identities)
  • characters wearing each other's clothes (fine either way for m/m, fine for the woman in m/f to wear the man's clothes, but I'd prefer no male crossdressing)
  • fake dating or undercover turning into something more
  • everyone thinks they're dating (but they're not, except then they are)
  • dating but they don't realise (or one of them doesn't but the other does, for cultural/obliviousness reasons)

Explicit/kinky fic:
  • fight sex, or sparring/arguing turning into more
  • rough sex in general, and rough sex that turns slower and/or more intense from one time to the next
  • knifeplay, gunplay, weaponplay in general
  • breathplay/choking (preferably with hands)
  • bloodplay (preferably involving knives)
  • semi-clothed sex; clothed/naked; how awkward clothing (or armour, etc.) is removed
  • sex in showers
  • one character shaving a male character (preferably with a cutthroat razor but I'll adore anything!)
  • one character writing on another's skin; marking with cuts or bruises
  • stories behind scars/bruises/tattoos (and touching/kissing them, or reopening/reinjuring them)
  • differences in age/height/strength, as above
  • sexual fantasies
  • voice/accent kink; phone sex
  • switching - I have absolutely no strict top/bottom roles in mind (and switching mid-scene is also great)
  • if m/m/m threesome, double penetration (in one hole or not) is fine!
  • if m/m/f threesome, the woman being in charge is great!
  • for m/m: first time topping/bottoming/with a guy
  • desperation; characters knowing they shouldn't but not being able to help themselves
  • characters who think they're just having casual sex ending up desperately in love (and not trying to back out when they realise, whether they resent it having happened or not)
  • hard, desperate kissing; fingers in hair

Darker fic:
I enjoy darkfic and dark art so as long as it's not in my DNWs, go for it. Torture porn, ghost stories, scary magic, religious weirdness, twisted mindfuckery, non-con, gaslighting, serious body horror, all absolutely A-OK. Feel free to use bad/offensive/dirty language if it fits the fic, as much swearing as you like, etc. I'll read just about anything, including incest, xeno, vore, serial killer AUs, whatever tickles your fancy.

Fandom-specific info:

Alien Series:

  • Ships: (in order of movie!) Ripley/Hicks; Gorman/Vasquez; Ripley/Clemens; Ripley/Call; Vickers/Janek; Vickers/David

Yes, I do like Prometheus. I actually like all of the core Alien films, but I've not seen AvP, I've not read the books or played the games. So, if we match on this one, feel free to set it in any stage of the timeline from Prometheus through to Alien: Resurrection.

I basically love the rather grim, dark sci-fi universe of these movies. I like the technology that looks like it could actually be part of the world because it's not just slick and clean and great and the weird politics and Weyland-Yutani, and the synthetics (and their sentience) and the military. I really like the worldbuilding sciencey bits of Prometheus, too.

I do like the horrory aspects, obviously! If you want to take the xenomorphs into any of the other fandoms here or bring another fandom's characters into the Alien universe and make it sort of survival-horrory, absolutely go ahead. And this is my one sort-of-weird exception to the "no pregnancy of any kind!" DNW above - if you want to kill a character via face-hugger-related chest-burst, go ahead; I'd just rather it not be full of weirdly maternal feelings about the incubated xenomorph.

Aaand, if you're interested in writing Ripley/Call, there's a prompt or two in my Femslashex letter here.

Black Sails:

  • Ships: Captain Flint/Charles Vane; Captain Flint/Thomas Hamilton; Charles Vane/Eleanor Guthrie; Charles Vane/Edward Teach; Flint/Vane/Teach; Flint/Vane/Eleanor

I marathoned the first two seasons of this show in about three days and discovered it's just so many, many things that I love, and since then it's been the only show I actually look forward to watching weekly. It's pirates and tall ships and gritty, dirty, bloody, strong characters with vast moral ambiguities, great dialogue, great costumes, great locations/sets/props, and fun, twisty plots.

The two characters I'm not super keen on are Max and Miranda so I'd prefer they didn't turn up in a starring role - supporting parts are obviously fine! Everyone else is great, though - I'm really keen on Flint, Vane, Teach and Eleanor, but if you're into Silver or Billy Bones or Jack or Anne, absolutely go for that, too.

(If you have any interest in shipping for this one, all my preferences are in my Rare Pairs letter here - it got long so I thought linking would be best!)

I love canon-divergent AUs in this fandom (any degree of divergence is A-OK, to the point of Flint arriving in Nassau at a much later date having gone elsewhere first, Teach coming back to Nassau earlier so season 3 doesn't happen the way it does at all, other major character death, the Spanish razing Nassau, etc.), and I'm more than happy with the action taking place on any of the ships, in Nassau, in London, in any of the newer season 3 locations, etc. as well as just dumping them all into an entirely different canon!

Note: I'm all caught up on the show so don't worry about spoilers.

Chronicles of Riddick:

  • Ships: Riddick/Vaako; Riddick/Dahl; Riddick/Johns; Riddick/Boss Johns; Riddick/Vaako/Dame Vaako

Feel free to go as dark and twisted as you like, or equally try to make this canon fluffy if you can! I'm happy with Necromongers and the Underverse and twisty politics if you want to go that way, or just go hack-n-slash action if you prefer. I love the whole canon (including the games and Dark Fury) from start to end, though I prefer the version of Chronicles where Riddick doesn't have a shiny hand on his chest and the Rage of Furya, but I'm willing to go with that if you can sell it to me ;)

I also like worldbuilding or character backstory in this fandom as much as I like shippy PWPs or massive plotty epics. Give me weird planets, bitey aliens, snarky banter, porn or anything in between and I'll be happy!

I basically ship Riddick with anyone/everyone here, to be honest, so if you wanted to include hints of literally any (non-xeno) ship in the fandom then go ahead. Also, I love basically all of the supporting characters from the entire series so include whoever you want if the mood strikes.

If you're feeling like writing shipfic, I have prompts in my Rare Pairs letter here and my Night on Fic Mountain letter here, and some miscellaneous bits in my Every Woman letter here.

Edge of Tomorrow:

  • Ships: Rita/Cage

What I really like about this film is that Cage starts off a total, unmitigated coward and somehow still manages to save the world. I also have a thing for training scenes, fighting and (eventual) competence, not to mention time loops, so this has unsurprisingly ended up being one of my favourite films.

Things I like about the film itself and might enjoy in fic are the time loops, the powered suits they use, Rita's melee weapon (maybe Cage learns to use one, or uses hers?), the weird science, and the fact that Cage is somehow a major even though he clearly has no real attachment to the military. I like that parts of the action take place in France (I love Paris and have been there so many, many times, but also the beaches, the countryside...), and the fact that by the end, Cage clearly has feelings for Rita though he's really only known her on one day of her life.

If you do match on EoT and you don't feel Rita/Cage, I'd prefer that either Cage is interested but he's never mentioned it to her and is totally satisfied that they're friends/colleagues (so no one-sided pining!), or it's just not mentioned at all. I do think they work well together and as long as Cage hasn't got secret yearnings for 'more', I'm fine with friendship fic!

If you're interested in writing shippy Rita/Cage fic, I have some prompts in my Night on Fic Mountain letter here.

Firefly:

  • Ships: Mal/Inara; Mal/Jayne; Inara/Jayne

The weird sense of found family is something I love here, and the capers they keep getting themselves into. Mal has a big heart and despite his interesting occupation he seems to try hard to do the Right Thing in most circumstances, and I like that sort of grey-but-not-really morality.

I love the contrast between the different worlds, from the shiny wealth on the core worlds where Simon and River come from and Inara has clients, to the dust and gunslinging farther out (and how that's represented on Serenity with Simon and Inara, and then Mal and co - this is one reason I like Mal/Inara and Inara/Jayne).

I enjoy the threat of the Reavers. And while I did enjoy Serenity, I'd really rather any Firefly crossovers didn't dwell on the doom and gloom - I'd like everyone still alive, please, or their deaths not mentioned too prominently!

The jobs they take on are also a favourite thing here - anything capery would be great! I like it when Mal's tough but charming and Jayne's being shooty (I find his liking for weapons strangely adorable), and when Inara's involved despite her better judgement.

Greek & Roman Myth:

  • Ships: Persephone/Hades; Achilles/Patroclus; Achilles/Odysseus; Heracles/Iolaus; Medusa/Athena

I'm totally happy with fusions or crossovers here - bring mythological characters or creatures into the other canons! Use the plot of a myth as the plot of a fic in another canon! Modern myth rewrites! Go with what appeals to you, as dark or zany or whatever as you like!

And if you want to use a specific version of a myth/legend, feel free - I absolutely enjoy the myths themselves, but I'm also amused by Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena, the Percy Jackson movies (I've not read the books), Troy, Jason & the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans, Freud's weird mythological interpretations, and Achilles by Elizabeth Cook (which is one of my favourite things in the world).

Myths/characters I like are things like Orpheus & Eurydice, Persephone & Hades, the Argonauts, Medusa (and Perseus, and Poseidon, and Athena), Achilles & Patroclus, sphinxes, oracles, etc., but don't let that hem you in - I'm up for whatever myth you might want to use.

I like epic quests, I like towns besieged by terrible creatures, I like people getting one over the gods who are playing with their lives, I like riddles and prophesies that come true and I'm totally fine with transplanting any of these other canons into ancient Greece or the Roman Republic/Empire.

Indiana Jones Series:

  • Ships: Indiana Jones/Marion Ravenwood

What I love about Indiana Jones is the mythology and the map-hopping locations and the non-stop action and the weird interaction between archaeology and what's basically tomb raiding (but with a very "it belongs in a museum!" sense to it). I like that it's about using your head as much as using weaponry, that there are always puzzles to be solved and traps to avoid (or spring idiotically), that there's a sense of danger, and that there's a sense of humour to it.

I also love Indy's hat, his relationship with Marion, the fact that he's a university professor, and Henry Jones Sr. (feel free to go with writing Henry Jones Sr. as a main character and forget about everyone else if you like! I love him!). Sallah and Short Round and Marcus Brody are also favourites. Not a huge fan of Mutt, however, and I'd sort of rather you didn't go straight for the ALIENS!! part in the last movie, though, or not bring it in too heavily if you do.

I'm absolutely just as happy reading Indy as an archaeologist as a roving treasure-hunter as a college professor, btw, and any time period from his university student days with Abner Ravenwood up to his death is fine for me - I'd just prefer no Young Indiana Jones if possible! Also, I'm totally okay with Marion being creepily young if you write the time when Indy's studying with Abner.

James Bond (Movies):

  • Ships: Bond/Alec Trevelyan; Bond/Francisco Scaramanga

First thing: I'm happy with any non-Craig Bond here (because Craig!Bond has his own listing below ;)).

If you did happen to write Bond/Trevelyan, then I'm specifically thinking of Brosnan!Bond and Bean!Trevelyan, but feel free to do whatever you like with Bond/Scaramanga - I'm totally happy with Moore!Bond and Christopher Lee, or feel free to make them different/modern (actually, Craig!Bond and an updated Man with the Golden Gun wouldn't be a bad thing!).

My favourite non-Craig Bond films are, in case that helps in terms of tone/setting/plot: GoldenEye, The Man with the Golden Gun, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Live and Let Die. That's not to say I don't like the others because I do - I've seen all of them multiple times. I like Jaws as a villain, and the evil geniuses like Zorin and Blofeld, and May Day is awesome. I'm also quite fond of Godfrey Tibbett from A View to a Kill, and any Moneypenny, and Valentin from GoldenEye. Feel free to not include Bond, by the way - I'm happy to read about another character!

What I love about the Bond films is guns and slick cars and explosions and Bond running around with his PPK in a pretty suit or combats and looking just as good in either, but also that they don't take themselves too seriously. I like the puns and the Bond Girls and the cartoon villains.

I also like that Bond is an efficient and fairly remorseless killer, I like his death-defying stunts, I like his odd relationship with M, I like his flirting with Moneypenny and I like Bond in Navy uniform, Bond flying planes/driving cars/riding motorcycles, the Q branch gadgets, and moments when he actually does spy stuff.

If you're interested in writing Bond/Alec, I have prompts in my Rare Pairs letter here, but totally don't feel obliged!

James Bond (Craig Movies):

  • Ships: Bond/Le Chiffre; Bond/Female!M - please, no Q-related ships

Pretty much everything I've said about Bond movies in general above applies for the Craig movies, too. However, in addition: I like the sort of additional physicality of Craig's Bond, the size and physical strength of him, the slightly grittier feel (though obviously there's still the occasional nod to the campy, silly Bond films of yore!)... I like that not everything goes perfectly. I like that Bond gets things wrong, he's not particularly subtle he and doesn't always do the right thing, but at the same time he's still ultra-competent.

I love Bond's interactions with M, how she treats him and how he reacts to her. I like Vesper and I like Moneypenny and Le Chiffre was a really good villain. And though I'd prefer no Q-related shipping, I do like Q as a character.

Incidentally, if you matched on Craig!Bond and want to go the "'James Bond' is a codename that's passed down just like 007 is" route, meaning Bond is just the latest in a long line, I'm totally fine with that.

Kingsman: The Secret Service:

  • Ships: Harry Hart/Merlin (please no Eggsy ships)

The silliness despite everyone being hyper-competent is what I like here! It's all very Bond-meets-the-Avengers (I mean Peel and Steed, not Cap and Iron Man), and that's pretty spectacular. I love that Harry is so fantastic a fighter and does it with such panache. The suits are great. The fighting is A+. I enjoyed Jack Davenport's brief appearance and Mark Strong as Merlin is all kinds of delightful. I like the tests Eggsy and co go through to get into the Kingsmen, and the tailor's shop, and people's general resourcefulness. Pantomime villains FTW!

Also, Roxy is great, so I'm totally happy to see Roxy gen! AUs where the later events of Kingsman don't actually happen are fine, maybe with both Eggsy and Roxy ending up in the organisation (or, for crossovers, maybe Eggsy ends up in another service? I'm sure the IMF or MI6 or someone along those lines would love him!).

Mission: Impossible (Movies):

  • Ships: Ethan Hunt/William Brandt

I should probably mention that I like all of the M:I films! My favourite character here is Ethan with his buckets of angst, though I'm also a pretty big fan of Luther and Benji. If you do go the shippy route, I'd really prefer no Benji/Brandt. Ethan/Brandt, on the other hand, is something I'd enjoy (but M:I gen is absolutely just as good).

Basically, the same things I like about Bond apply here - gadgets and guns and spy capers! But M:I also has an air of teamwork to it that I love, and Luther and Benji are pretty fantastic in that respect. I really enjoy the technology aspects (the masks, improbable science, etc.) and the vehicles and whatnot, and the idea that while Ethan would still be good without the others, he probably wouldn't be as good.

I love how Ethan always ends up choosing the most completely, convolutedly, unmitigatedly ridiculous plans to get the job done rather than just going in with guns blazing. I love that he's so amazingly good at what he does! I liked the opening of M:I2 with Ethan free-climbing. Motorcycle stuff. Climbing buildings, dangling from planes, any of the massively dangerous stuff that Tom Cruise decided it was a good idea to film.

Honestly, I think I basically just like seeing Tom Cruise do ridiculous stunts for the Greater Good. ;)

The Mummy Series:

  • Ships: Rick O'Connell/Evy Carnahan; Rick O'Connell/Ardeth Bay

The Mummy films are just so much fun. Like, so much fun. It's so many things I love all rolled into one - Ancient Egypt, a vaguely historical setting, random magic and supernatural creatures, action, costumes, humour, Brendan Fraser... I have a degree in Egyptology but I have absolutely zero attachment to seeing Ancient Egypt "accurately" portrayed at all, or even accurate portrayal of movie-contemporary attitudes toward it. Basically: feel completely free to just unrepentantly make stuff up - I'll love it!

One thing I'd say, though, is that Evy is definitely Rachel Weisz for me, and because of that I'd very much like to pretend the third film just didn't happen (or that Rachel Weisz and her version of Evy were in it). I'd rather you didn't focus on Alex as a child, either, if that's possible.

If you're interested in writing Rick/Evy, I have some prompts in my Night on Fic Mountain letter here and some Evy- and Rick-specific notes in my NPT letter here. For Ardeth, frankly I just love his commitment to the medjai, his tattoos and his hair and his facial hair and the fact that he's so competent with weapons!

National Treasure (Movies):

  • Ships: Ben Gates/Abigail Chase; Ben Gates/Ian Howe; please no Riley ships

What I like about National Treasure is the history and the clues and the treasure-hunting and I tend to think this would work with pretty much any of my canons really perfectly. Ben has some interestingly grey morals when it comes to things like making off with the Declaration of Independence for the ~greater good, and I like that. I also like that he's intelligent and knowledgable and a bit of a screw-up in his personal life, even when he ends up with so much money he couldn't possibly know how to spend it all - and I love that it's really not about the money for him, it's about the discovery, about seeing the clues through and working out the puzzle.

I'm also a fan of Abigail's intelligence and her willingness to get herself embroiled in gallivanting around treasure-hunting because of her love of history. Totally happy with Ben/Abigail here! And Ian makes a fun villain, even if he's a bit pantomime about it. Ben's parents are also awesome.

100% happy with pre-movies, between movies or post-movies! I'd really rather there not be huge amounts of Riley in any crossovers with this, though, as the laughs at his expense make me cringe hugely. If you make him actually competent (because, really, he's not useless) with mimimal laughing-at, that also works!

Pacific Rim (2013):

  • Ships: Herc/Stacker; Raleigh/Mako; Herc/Raleigh; Herc/Raleigh/Mako; Herc/Chuck; Herc/Mako; Stacker/Mako; the Kaidanovskys; Herc/the Kaidanovskys

I'll start off by saying I'm always 100% fine with anything I've requested crossed or fused with Pacific Rim.

I'm really into the pilot dynamic, drifting, ghost drifting, being inside each other's heads, working in unison, etc. and the effect that has on characters and their existing or developing relationships, either gen or shippy. The jaegers and the kaiju are amazing, the teams are amazing, the fights are amazing, and then there's sparring and science and engineering and pulling together as one big team to save the world...

If you want to forget the Pacific Rim characters and write in any of the characters from my other fandoms instead, that's totally fine, as is crossing the fandoms and having characters meet Raleigh and co. Totally happy with the kaiju appearing on another planet and seeing how people who aren't on Earth deal with invasion if that works with the canon you're crossing with, too! And if you want to write fix-it with Chuck and/or Stacker and/or the Kaidanovskys and/or the Wei Tang brothers surviving, totally go for it.

If you're looking for shippy prompts, I have some in my Rare Pairs letter here. I'm not hugely into Gottlieb/Geiszler but I do like them as characters.

RED (Movies):

  • Ships: Frank Moses/William Cooper; Victoria Winslow/Ivan Simonov

Oh, RED. Both these films are so, so silly and I love them so, so much.

Bruce Willis is excellent in them and I love him reading romance novels to get close to Sarah (but, although I do love Frank/Sarah in the films, I have a preference for them not having worked out in fic - I think Sarah training with Victoria or Han would be sort of hilarious). I love that Frank's still dangerous even though he's been retired for some time (same goes for Marvin and Joe). I enjoy Han in the second one, and I do like Katja but I'd prefer she not be smooching Frank, and I really enjoyed Cooper and that fight in Cooper's office where Frank says he trained Cooper's trainer. :D I was disappointed we didn't get more of Cooper in RED 2, especially after he apparently takes care of the whole mess he's left with at the end of the first film.

I'm absolutely here for ridiculous action and big guns and the team being all teamy. I love Victoria and Frank most of all, and the idea of their pasts coming back to haunt them.

A Song of Ice and Fire - George R. R. Martin; Game of Thrones (TV):

  • Ships: Jaime/Brienne; Sandor/Sansa; Stannis/Davos; Daenerys/Khal Drogo; Daenerys/Jorah (could be persuaded of Sansa/Tyrion, Sansa/Margaery, Ned/Robert, Ned/Stannis!)

Yes, I know, I'm committing the cardinal sin of lumping ASOIAF and GoT together. Please assume I know there's a difference (because I do!).

What I like about this is things like the setting and the worldbuilding and the houses and those houses' bannermen, the Wall, the structure of society and how everything changes but stays the same during the war. I like Daenerys's trials and tribulations outside Westeros. I like swords and bloody tournaments and melees, the stories they tell, bravery, strong women, the direwolves, the clothes, the politics (including Varys), all of it.

Favourite parts have been Arya and Syrio Forel, Arya and Jaqen H'ghar, Tyrion in general, Jaime learning to fight again after his hand issue, all of Jaime's interactions with Brienne and Sansa's with Sandor Clegane, Jaime having killed the Mad King (and how Ned could've taken the throne himself, if he hadn't been so loyal, and how people blame him for killing Aerys though it was pretty much the right thing to do), the supernatural elements, Davos's loyalty to Stannis (and no one really understanding it), Ned's commitment to duty even though he wants to stay in Winterfell...

Things I'm not so keen on are Joffrey, Lysa & Robert Arryn, the copious amounts of totally gratuitous rape (by all means reference it, but I'd rather not get outright noncon for this!), Theon (other Greyjoys totally fine!).

Temeraire - Naomi Novik:

  • Ships: Laurence/Temeraire; Laurence/Tharkay; Laurence/Jane Roland

Tall ships! Wars! Dragon societies! Uniforms and interesting locations and tight friendships!

Okay, we all know this is basically Aubrey/Maturin dressed up in a dragon suit; I love that it's Aubrey-Maturin dressed up in a dragon suit. Basically all of the things that I love about O'Brian apply here but with a fantasy element - there's loyalty and friendship and people working together for common goals. There's friends who don't have the same views but who are friends nonetheless. There's hardships and hard choices and interesting takes on society.

I love that the longwings only take female captains. I love that Temeraire approaches everything with such wide-eyed wonder and that he's (usually) so idealistic. I love when the dragons interact with each other, their friendships and opinions and their personalities. I love the politics, even if I'm not crazy about the whole dragon mistreatment because they're just animals thing that goes on. The Chinese dragons are great. Not so keen on the whole Australia incident, however. Love pretty much everything to do with Tharkay and Jane Roland!

Request-specific prompts:

Please bear in mind that these are just ideas in case you want them; I'm not desperately tied to them and if they don't inspire you then I'm absolutely up for whatever you want to write!

Also, if I've forgotten to add in a combination then it's really just that: I've forgotten. It really doesn't mean I don't want that combination (if I've requested it, I want it), but this letter took a lot of writing and I might have overlooked a couple of things!

Indiana Jones Series, The Mummy Series, National Treasure (Movies) & Pacific Rim (2013):

  • Crossover ships: Indiana Jones/Rick O'Connell; Marion Ravenwood/Evy Carnahan; Indiana Jones/Evy Carnahan; Marion Ravenwood/Abigail Chase; Evy Carnahan/Abigail Chase

For all permutations of Indiana Jones/The Mummy/National Treasure, I'm basically looking for archaeology- and history-related hijinks! I'd prefer less focus on aliens and more on treasure-hunting and mystery-solving, if possible, though I'm totally up for Evy's past lives, mummies, religious artefacts... Do feel free to mention Alex and Mutt (particularly if it's parents commiserating over having these go-getting, danger-courting adult sons), but I'd prefer they not be the focus.

(If you're feeling crossover-shippy for Indiana Jones/The Mummy, I have some prompts in my Rare Pairs letter here.)

Indiana Jones and The Mummy are roughly contemporary so feel free to have them running around in the 20s or the 30s, through the war, up to post-Crystal Skull. For crosses with National Treasure, I'm A-OK with Indy or Evy or whoever being quite old at the time of the story, with there being some sort of weird time-related shenanigans, or with Ben or Abigail or whoever looking back on articles or books or evidence of some kind that involves Indy/Evy/whoever.

For Pacific Rim - yep, basically just asking for two characters in a jaeger! Any contrivance you can come up with to get them there is totally fine by me.

Mission: Impossible (Movies), James Bond (Movies), James Bond (Craig Movies), RED (Movies), Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015) & Pacific Rim (2013):

  • Crossover ships: Ethan Hunt/James Bond (Brosnan or Craig); Ethan Hunt/William Cooper; Victoria Winslow/Harry Hart; Frank Moses/Harry Hart; Victoria/Bond (literally any but Lazenby); Brosnan!Bond/Craig!Bond; Craig!Bond/Raleigh Becket; Craig!Bond/Stacker Pentecost; Ethan Hunt/Stacker Pentecost

Mission: Impossible (Movies)/James Bond (Movies) (or Craig Movies): James Bond and Ethan Hunt working together, basically! I'm interested in the contrasts between the two ways of working, with lots of guns and gadgets and running around hitting people. I apparently have simple tastes?

Mission: Impossible/RED (Movies): Frank or Victoria trained Ethan!; Cooper and Brandt used to work together; the RED characters working with the IMF; the RED characters going up against the IMF; Ethan needs Frank's help; Luther or Benji used to work with Marvin.

Mission: Impossible/Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015): the IMF as an American version of the Kingsmen; IMF & Kingsmen teamup; training together; Ethan & Harry, or Luther & Merlin, used to work together and call in a favour; contrasts in approaches!

Mission: Impossible/Pacific Rim (2013): Well... Tom Cruise was originally offered Idris Elba's part in PR, so... Ethan as the head of the PPDC? Ethan as a jaeger pilot? The IMF as the PPDC? Crossover where the IMF are rolled into the PPDC? Ethan and co trying to get through the Breach (and maybe managing it, with weird alien repercussions)?

James Bond (Movies)/James Bond (Craig Movies): haha, okay, this could potentially be cracky. Reincarnation? Alternate timelines? Parallel universes? Time travel? Maybe they work together for some bizarre timey-wimey reasons. "James Bond" as a codename that gets passed down (so Craig!Bond meets Brosnan!Bond or one of the others)? How do they interact? How would Brosnan!Bond's Moneypenny react to Craig!Bond? Does the last Bond train the new Bond? If codename is the case, who were they before the name? Does the previous Bond have to die before it's passed along? Heck, bring in ALL the Bonds here if you like!

James Bond (Movies or Craig Movies)/RED (Movies): Frank and/or Victoria used to work with Dench!M; Frank and/or Victoria used to work with not!Craig!Bond; Frank and/or Victoria trained Craig!Bond; Cooper working with Craig!Bond; Bond needs Frank or Victoria's help; Frank or Victoria run into Bond mid-op; Katja working with Vesper or Moneypenny or Dench!M.

James Bond (Movies or Craig Movies)/Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015): Bond as one of the Kingsmen? The Kingsmen as MI6 agents? Bond and Harry Hart working together and being Very Dapper.

James Bond (Movies or Craig Movies)/Pacific Rim (2013): Craig!Bond doesn't have much of a spy job in the world after the kaiju attack - maybe he ends up in the PPDC with Stacker or as Raleigh's new co-pilot when he's brought back. Kaiju attack in another Bond's time - how is that handled? M as the head of the PPDC?

RED (Movies)/Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015): These two silly, silly canons were just made to go together. Frank and Harry working together! Marvin and Merlin! Han and Eggsy! I absolutely ship Harry/Victoria so the two of them working together while they were younger, or working together now, would be awesome (whether shippy or not). Victoria as one of the Kingsmen, maybe? Maybe she knew Arthur.

RED (Movies)/Pacific Rim (2013): I'm pretty sure a young Victoria and Ivan would make great pilots! Or Frank and Cooper! Marvin working with Gottlieb and Geiszler!

Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015)/Pacific Rim (2013): I'd be totally up for the Kingsmen being in the PPDC here, with maybe Merlin working on the tech side and Harry as a pilot (with one of the existing PR characters, or maybe a Kingsman character (preferably not Eggsy), or maybe gen Eggsy and Roxy as pilots. If they were already Kingsmen agents and then got drafted into the PPDC - how do they deal with being in the spotlight? Maybe Harry in Stacker's role and Eggsy's dad was his ex-co-pilot? Up to you!

Edge of Tomorrow (2014), Alien Series, The Chronicles of Riddick Series & Pacific Rim (2013):

  • Crossover ships: Rita Vrataski/Ellen Ripley; Rita Vrataski/Dahl; Rita Vrataski/Riddick; Rita Vrataski/Mako Mori; Riddick/Dwayne Hicks; Riddick/Mako Mori; Riddick/Stacker Pentecost

Edge of Tomorrow/Alien: xenomorphs land on Earth instead of the Mimics; Rita in the team in Aliens; Rita in the crew in Prometheus; Ripley in Cage's role in EoT, learning how to fight in one of those suits; Cage working PR for Weyland-Yutani and meeting Ripley and/or Rita. (If you're interested in Rita/Ripley, I have prompts in my Every Woman letter here - search for Ellen Ripley & Rita Vrataski.)

Edge of Tomorrow/Riddick: the Necromongers come to Earth; technological macguffin lands Rita in the Riddick universe or Riddick on Earth; Riddick fighting Mimics; Rita and Riddick in the Wailing Wars; Rita as a merc (with Dahl?).

Edge of Tomorrow/Pacific Rim: Pacific Rim characters in the Mimic War (pilots fighting in the powered suits?); Rita and Cage as jaeger pilots (either post-EoT or in a no-Mimics AU); Rita piloting with Mako; the kaiju invasion happens instead of the Mimics; the Mimics and the kaiju are part of the same invasion force. (If you've any interest in writing Rita/Mako, there's a prompt in my Rare Pairs letter here.)

Alien/Riddick: Riddick lands on a planet infested with xenomorphs (Furya?); Riddick and Hicks in the same unit; Hicks as a merc chasing Riddick; Riddick in the prison from Alien 3; Alien 3 transplanted into the Riddick universe; Necromongers vs. Aliens!

Alien/Pacific Rim: pretty much all I have is "Ripley in a jaeger", because that would be awesome. Pretty much anyone would make a great co-pilot. But if you have other ideas, go for it!

Riddick/Pacific Rim: Okay, I'll admit I'm mostly interested in Riddick and Vaako or Riddick and Dahl in a jaeger fighting kaiju, or using drift tech for some reason. Also here for Riddick piloting with Mako or Stacker!

Black Sails, Firefly, Greek and Roman Mythology, The Chronicles of Riddick Series & Pacific Rim (2013):

  • Crossover ships: Eleanor Guthrie/Inara Serra; Captain Flint/Mal Reynolds; Charles Vane/Mal Reynolds; Simon Tam/John Silver; Simon Tam/Charles Vane; Charles Vane/Jayne Cobb; Riddick/River Tam; Riddick/Mal Reynolds; Riddick/Charles Vane

Black Sails/Pacific Rim: the kaiju attack during the Age of Sail; pirate jaegers!; what the Black Sails characters would be like in the near future (including kaiju and jaegers!).

Black Sails/Riddick: Riddick as a pirate! Merc crews as pirates! Pirates as merc crews! Pirates hunting Riddick? Eleanor running a network of mercenaries?

Firefly/Pacific Rim: terrifying space beasts and the people who fight them!; Serenity finds the kaiju home planet; PR characters as crew in the Firefly universe (working with or against Serenity).

Firefly/Riddick: Necromongers in the Firefly universe; Riddick and River fight the Reavers; Serenity goes down on the planet from Pitch Black; Riddick traveling incognito on Serenity.

Greek & Roman Myth: as I noted in my fandom-specific info above, I'm absolutely here for crossovers and fusions with any myths that might take your fancy!

Black Sails, A Song of Ice and Fire - George R. R. Martin, Game of Thrones (TV), Temeraire - Naomi Novik & Pacific Rim (2013):

  • Crossover ships: Captain Flint/Ned Stark; Billy Bones/Sansa; Jaime/Flint; Vane/Daenerys; Flint/Jorah Mormont; more or less any ASOIAF character with their GoT counterpart (e.g. Sandor/Sandor, Jaime/Jaime)

Black Sails/Pacific Rim: see above!

Black Sails/ASOIAF (or GoT): Thomas Hamilton (or someone else, or multiple people) as a lord in Westeros and some of the pirates as his bannermen; the pirates are colleagues of Salladhor Saan (and acquaintances of Davos); Arya running away to be a pirate.

Black Sails/Temeraire: the pirates as dragon crews (I'm sure Flint's dragon being called Walrus would be amusing!); the pirates as Napoleonic privateers; the dragon crews as Navy men in the 1700s.

ASOIAF/Temeraire: Brienne, Daenerys, or the Stark ladies as longwing captains; Daenerys's dragons speaking and intelligent (Drogon as a Celestial, maybe?); the Targaryens as literal dragons.

Pacific Rim & any of the above: the Napoleonic Wars with jaegers; fighting kaiju with dragons.
